I went to the gas station yesterday and filled up -- the price kept spinning higher and higher until the machine actually exploded. I kid you not. Check out my fundraising page and throw a few bones my way. It's for a good cause and I can't enter the race unless I raise $200. Thanks to those who've already contributed!

life is full of anniversaries. this is one of'em. today, it's been five years since i started this photoblog. five years of smudo.org. admittedly, the inspiration and the posting frequency has varied quite a bit over time... but i like to think i've learned a thing or two during the years, much due to the photobloggers i've met and fraternized with as an extension of this blog. thanks guys!

oh, and i just realised i've posted more than 1000 images. 1012 with this one.

btw, anyone interested in selling me a sigma 24-70/2.8 w nikon mount?

edit: fotosidan.se has a piece on today's birthday. thanks:)

The best part about going to my chiropractor is before the doc sees me and cracks my spine around I get a back massage from his little helper lady. Recently he got a new helper lady and she is super fine. I'm trying to figure out the best way to find out if I can get some sort of "extended service" from her ... although I'm guessing my health insurance won't cover it. In other news, happy birthday mom!

Pulse.jpg "Researchers have found a way to generate the shortest-ever flash of light – 80 attoseconds (billionths of a billionth of a second) long. [...] The light pulses are produced by firing longer, but still very short laser pulses into a cloud of neon gas. The laser gives a kick of energy to the neon atoms, which then release this energy in the form of brief pulses of extreme ultraviolet light." (story)

Getting wet

As I said yesterday, I got a bit wet. Here’s one of those times but of course I kept shooting. You can just about see someone in there too. The local kids really enjoyed waiting for big waves and then jumping away before they got wet. They always failed though and got soaked.

Is it just me or is the whole photoblogging community in sort of a slump? Apparently photoblogs became uncool and someone forgot to tell me. That would explain the lack of serious hotties at my doorstep this month. Lee said it was because of the (sweet) neck-beard I've grown. Ha! Sucks to you Lee... what do you know?

I was walking down San Pedro St, just having crossed 6th, and en-route to 5th, when I stepped over some neatly folded newspaper, I took a few more paces and then stopped. for some reason I had not stood on that folded piece of newspaper. my curiousity went on auto pilot. I unwrapped the paper and this fucking filthy ass crack-pipe was still in one piece and now in my hands. good job I had my shoulder bag with me, unfortunatly I had to carry that filthy piece of shit with me for the rest of the afternoon, but, I got it back safe for a photograph.
I guess you just never know whats in a nicely folded piece of newspaper on the street.

If I can ever get out of town, I will be back messing with polaroid pull aparts down here in southern Colorado. Polaroids are so awkward in the back country but opening them up is just like Christmas. I 've got them pinned everywhere on my clothes, slogging knee deep in boot sucking mud with my camera in one hand and a bag of goopy trash in the other. This is the spring where we get the water for our cistern.
